How has your style defined you?
My style is all over, just like my life. I have my hand in everything. My style is the same as it was in high school almost 20 years ago; now there are more looks out in my size.
Who would you say your style icon is?
Other than my late auntie, would definitely be Fran from the Nanny, Kelly from Office, Naomi Watanabe, and all of the Jpop/ Visual Kei singers.
How long have you been interested in fashion, and what inspired your interest?
Since I was a kid, my mom said I always picked out my own clothes. My environment (I’m from NYC) and the Japanese fashion culture have inspired my interest.
Can you tell us about your journey to body confidence?
Would you believe I have loved me forever? I had a moment when I was picked on in middle school, but I had the best support. My late aunt was amazing and my late friend. To this day I never will forget how much he supported me in all things in life. I shine because of my support system. After middle school I was fine. I do love who I am.

What's your profession, and how does what you wear impact your professional life?
I am a school librarian during the school year and I lecture during the summer. So I wear a lot of what I want. It’s very smart casual.

I like the different ways you can wear cardigans.
What's the perfect formula for a feel-good outfit?
A babydoll dress and wellies or a matching two piece pants outfit. It could be shorts or not, casual or not. With flatforms of course!
What do you hope the future of fashion will look like?
What people want to wear. Full of self expression so that people can find their light and love of themselves.
