Fashion & Flat Whites: Meet Four of Our Australian Contributors!

Today we’re chatting to four of our amazing Mys Tyler Contributors who are based in Australia to see what they love about the Mys Tyler app and to hear about their fashion tips and tricks.

Meet Kate Dreyer, Purva Nakhasi, Lauren Barnett, and Rose Allan. If you haven’t already, follow their Mys Tyler accounts for body and style relevant fashion inspiration.

Kate Dreyer

Kate rocking neutral tones. It’s all in the details!

Kate was born in Riga, Latvia and came to Australia in 2008. She’s lived in Australia ever since. Her style is modern, comfortable and minimalistic with a touch of sophistication mixed in with street influences.

What do you love about the Mys Tyler platform?

I love that the Mys Tyler platform is a safe and comfortable place to "collect" and share my outfits. The entire platform is all about outfits and fashion so I don't need to waste my energy and time on showing some other part of my life or personality.

Fashion is a very personal affair to me. I like to explore, search and analyze myself "putting a certain costume on." If I get to inspire someone in the process - amazing! If not - i'm still going to be here trying things on.

What are your feelings about shopping and what has your experience been like? Have you ever had any problems with shopping (i.e., online or in-stores)?

My only problem with shopping is I think I'm addicted to it. I can do shopping any day of the week, in-store or online, on a lunch break or on vacation. I don't treat shopping as something stressful. Most of the time I know what suits me, so if I'm short on time I will go straight to garments that I know will work for me. When I'm not pressed on time, I like to experiment with new things - whether it is a different fit, new brand or a colour that I know typically is not mine. When it comes to online shopping, I've learnt to understand fit and the quality just by looking at the picture and reading the composition, so mistakes don't happen often, and even if they do, I don't get hung up on them, and just use them as a learning opportunity.

What Aussie brands are you loving at the moment?

I love the minimalist sophistication of Oroton and of course their amazing quality yet affordable bags and leather accessories.

Do you have any trending fashion tips coming into winter?

This winter it's all about modern tailored classics in austere colours (so think grey, beige, black, white). Add a little sparkle (as in metallic accessories or sequined details) if you want a little drama.

Purva Nakhasi

Purva looking absolutely gorgeous in this tonal OOTD.

Purva is a proud mother, full-time management consultant & social media influencer. Currently based in Sydney, she is passionate about motherhood, fashion, travel & women empowerment. She has, with great success, promoted mom brands, fashion & beauty labels & luxury hotels. Her vision, as a content creator, is to inspire women to love and cherish themselves as they navigate between the multiple responsibilities of life.

How would you describe your style?

Timeless, impressive, elegant, and versatile.

What do you love about the Mys Tyler platform?

Diversity in fashion is very important - we need to make sure women from all ages, sizes and cultures feel confident in what whey are wearing and Mys Tyler brings all this to them. It also helps you to connect to like minded fashion enthusiasts and at the same time share the latest trends with them. While I share my trends there is so much I can learn from others.

What are your feelings about shopping and what has your experience been like? Have you ever had any problems with shopping (i.e., online or in-stores)?

It is seamless, post-Covid I have honestly moved towards more online shopping than retail, thus having an app like [Mys Tyler] is so helpful.

What Aussie brands are you loving at the moment?

Aje, zimmerman, Bassike, country road, biz Corporate, and forcast.

Do you have any trending fashion tips coming into winter?

Try teaming skirts with knits - it looks chic! And, go for monochrome looks.

Lauren Barnett

Lauren in a bold and bright print dress from Variety Hour! Who doesn’t love a dress with pockets?!

Lauren is a kiwi who recently moved to Melbourne. Being a sewer, she’s always on the lookout for beautifully made, unique fashion pieces. She works in health and loves expressing herself through her clothes. Who doesn’t love some dopamine dressing?!

How would you describe your style?

I love a colourful print, with comfort at its core.

What do you love about the Mys Tyler platform?

Being plus size I love the ability to curate my feed and see bodies that are similar to mine. I have found many amazing new brands for plus size people through the Mys Tyler app. Being able to see a variety of bodies on [the Mys Tyler] app with the focus on great fits and community is so refreshing and has provided a safe space to share my own fits.

What are your feelings about shopping and what has your experience been like? Have you ever had any problems with shopping (i.e., online or in-stores)?

I’m a big online shopper due to the lack of size ranges in most stores. I have also found that more and more online boutiques that cater for extended sizes have great sizing charts and are giving both actual garment size as well as body measurements.

What Aussie brands are you loving at the moment?

Ecclestone by Katie Parrot is one I have my eye on, I loved her first release (plus she has increased her size range quickly which was awesome). Variety hour in Fitzroy make amazing pieces and are working really hard on increasing their size range as well. Suk workwear have beautiful basic pieces in a great size range! Made590 have some lovely high quality pieces in a quirky style.

Do you have any trending fashion tips coming into winter?

I’m not a big seasonal wardrobe gal, I just wear the same thing with extra layers!!

Rose Allan

Rose looking so lovely in this layered look. We love the contrast of the light-wash denim skirt and white top with this gorgeous green coat!

Rose is the face behind the Stylelistau blog. She’s many things, but most importantly a wife, mother & fashion lover!

How would you describe your style?

Forever evolving! I dress to suit my mood, the occasion, the weather… I love elevated basics, great fabrics and shapes, and I’m not afraid of colour and prints but also embrace classic looks. It’s a mixed bag, and I love it that way!

What do you love about the Mys Tyler platform?

Mys Tyler bridges the gap between every day women all over the world. No matter your location, there is someone out there with a similar body type and sense of style. The connection and sense of community are what I love most. It’s incredibly important to have a place that represents and showcases every body. Mainstream media lacks true diversity whereas Mys Tyler is truly a place for all women, from all backgrounds, with all body types. All women deserve to be seen, heard and celebrated.

What are your feelings about shopping and what has your experience been like? Have you ever had any problems with shopping (i.e., online or in-stores)?

I have always enjoyed shopping, and find the search for the perfect garment enjoyable. I understand the difficulties many women face when shopping both in store and online though. I think this is why the Mys Tyler app has been so popular, as a lot of the ‘hard work’ sourcing items has been done. It’s great being able to share our fashion wins, and take inspiration from each other too.

What Aussie brands are you loving at the moment?

Gorman, Frank & Dollys, Decjuba, Ena Pelly, Ceres Life & Isabella Longginou are all doing fabulous things in their spaces - and there is an array of small fashion labels making a big mark too with beautiful prints, bold designs and luxe fabrics.

Do you have any trending fashion tips coming into winter?

Rug up! Trench coats, Roll neck knits, wool coats, Sherpa linings.. it’s all about keeping cosy.
